Design, Performance Evaluation and Field Test of a Water Jet Tool for ROV Trencher

ROV trencher is a kind of which trenches the sea floor using specifically designed tool and buries subsea cables pipelines. According to soil conditions, this trenching method can have two different types, one mechanical cutting other water jetting. In paper, we present jet design for 2500 m depth-rated trencher. A series CFD simulations laboratory tests with nozzle, ground test 1:6 scale jetting arm model were carried out derive demonstrate parameters. October 2018, constructed was put into trial in East Sea Korea evaluate its final performances. addition, December 2019, applied construction site bury pipelines near Yogji Island Korea. Through these field operation, demonstrated both operational capability performance.
